The Archdiocese of Bombay in collaboration with the Indian Mumbai Province of the Society of the Divine word (SVD) made an agreement on 1st June 2012 to begin a mission station at Tala, Raigad. Desire to spread Christ’s mission in the geographical boundaries of Tala Taluka, at Raigad District was the common vision of this new venture.

The ministry of Janseva Society Tala began in the first week of October and the official blessing and inauguration of the new mission station at Tala took place on the 26th of January, 2013 by Fr. Stanislaus Lazar SVD, the then Provincial Superior of INM province.

JS Tala is working among 22 Kathkari Tribe hamlets and three shepherd group (Dhangar) villages.   The problems that JS Tala has identified are; illiteracy, alcoholism, child labour, bonded labour, issues of health and hygiene, lack of road and water facilities.  It has ample scope of work in the areas of education, women and child development, availing government schemes, youth enrichment and livelihood programs.

JS Tala dreams of making the standard of living better for the adivasis in the area. We endeavor to be true witnesses of Christ by concrete actions of love, acceptance and perseverance. We humbly ask for your support as we take steps into the future to make the world of Tribal the place of less unequal.
