WEBINAR ON HIV/AIDS SARVA SEVA SANGH, PUNE

Sarva Seva Sangh, Pune along with HIV Pune NGO Network organized a Maharashtra state level webinar on HIV/AIDS (Prevention and Control) Act 2017 on 16^th February 2021. Padma Shri Dr. Raman Gangakhedkar and Adv. Rama Sarode were the panelists for the webinar. Dr. Gangakhedkar explained the background to the development of the Act and its significance from the health perspective. He said that it is a path breaking Law as it seeks to prevent and control the spread of HIV and AIDS along with protecting the human rights of affected people and criminalises discrimination against patients suffering. India has made discrimination against HIV/AIDS a punishable offence. Adv. Rama Sarode presented the Act from a legal perspective. The webinar pointed out the need for further action for the development of rules and mechanisms. More than 110 people representing various organizations from all over Maharashtra participated in the webinar.
