    St. Teresa of Calcutta Church

Blessed Teresa of Calcutta Church has its beginning since April 12 th 1998 in Rajiv Nagar. It was canonically erected as a Parish in the year 2004 and named after Blessed Teresa of Calcutta. This parish was bifurcated from St. Joseph’s Cathedral, Mysore with 180 catholic families from Udaiyagiri, Shantinagar and Rajiv Nagar. The languages that are spoken by the people are English, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam and Hindi.

We constructed a temporary structure in the diocesan land at Rajiv Nagar with the help of the Parishioners and benefactors and tried to build up the catholic community at Rajiv Nagar. Now Our Parish has grown and it has more than 260   catholic families. Under the leadership of Rev. Fr. Scaria, SVD, and Rev. Fr. Francis Fernandes SVD, this parish became a reality for the Society of the Divine Word in 2004. Presently we are in the construction of a new church building which would be completed within few months.

The number of catholic families is increasing in number day by day as it is a developing   city around Rajiv Nagar and other localities.  The Participation of our seminarians and the staff of Vidya Niketan in the parish is highly appreciated. They do come and take part in various ministries of the parish. In a similar way our St Arnold’s Central School community confreres do take up the Sunday liturgy once in a month. Through our active participation in the parish ministry we are giving a witnessing value.
