St Ann Church, Nala
St. Ann’s ward was one of the wards of Sacred Heart Church, Madanthyar. This ward was 20km far from the parish. The people were it finding difficult to reach for their spiritual needs as there were no transport facilities available. In the year 1980 late Rev. Fr. Ligoury D’Souza put the corner stone for the building and in the year 1982 on May 5 th he inaugurated the chapel dedicated to St. Anne. Now the families were increasing so there was a desire that this chapel should become a parish. Keeping this in mind they bought 1 acre 48 cents land near Jarigebail. Since then several priests have rendered their selfless services and also met the spiritual needs of the faithful. The Salesian and Ursuline sisters have taken catechism classes for the children and also helped in the activities of the chapel.
There have been very many vocations from this place. From this chapel 6 have become priests and one brother is under training. In the same way 10 have become women religious and among them 3 have become cloistered nuns and one is under training. Now the chapel has completed 29 years of its existence rendering services to people and fulfilling their spiritual needs.
