Vidya Niketan, Mysore

In the early 1970s, the erstwhile Bishop of Mysore, Most Rev. Mathias Fernandes and the Principal of St. Philomena’s college, Fr. Frank D’Souza, welcomed the SVDs warmly to Mysore. In June 1974, VidyaNiketan saw its first day light and in July, 1974 the first batch of juniors from Palda were welcomed by the Rector for their graduation studies in Mysore.

The next three years saw the rapid growth of Vidyaniketan under the leadership of Fr. Anthony Furtado. On the feast of the Pentecost June, 1976 the newly built house was blessed and occupied. The Visitator General, Br. Max, formally inaugurated the New premises on 28 June, 1977. At present, VidyaNiketan has 67 students.
